Will Detroit's Anibal Sanchez make history against the Twins?

Tigers right-hander Anibal Sanchez is no-hitting the Twins in Comerica Park through eight innings. The Tigers have staked Sanchez to a 6-0 lead.

Over that span, Sanchez has struck out nine and walked three. He’s presently at 114 pitches, 73 of which have gone for strikes. Prior to walking Eduardo Escobar with one out in the eighth, Sanchez had set down 18 batters in a row.

In the ninth, Sanchez is slated to face the top of the Minnesota order: Jamey Carroll, Joe Mauer and Josh Willingham.

The last Tiger to throw a no-hitter was Justin Verlander against the Blue Jays in 2011, and the last time the Twins were no-hit was last season, by Jered Weaver of the Angels.
