Fifth-year senior linebacker Shayne Skov has already made a few big hits during his Stanford football career.

Making the cover of Sports Illustrated has to be among the best.

“I haven’t seen the article yet. I’ve seen the cover. I think it’s outstanding,” Stanford coach David Shaw said. “I’ve talked to people at SI – they were really excited about the article. I heard from multiple people they’d love to make it into a book – that’s how much information they got and they had to cut it down to fit into an article. The young man’s got a fascinating story and he’s a guy that you root for.”

Of course, it’s not the national cover of SI. Oregon gets its own regional cover, as does several other of the top programs around the country.

Still, these are heady times for Stanford.
