Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger looked by far and away the best he has this preseason.

If the third preseason game – a 26-20 (OT) loss to the Chiefs – is an indication of how well Roethlisberger will perform this year, good things are ahead for the Steelers.

In the second year of his immersion in Todd Haley’s offense, and third game this preseason, Roethlisberger’s command seemed powerful, and quick, accurate decisions blended with the sense of spontaneity he adds himself. Roethlisberger was 13-for-19 for 166 yards and a touchdown pass – a 15-yarder on a broken play to running back Jonathan Dwyer, the Steelers first touchdown scored by the first team this preseason.

While Roethlisberger was the clear choice, we wanted to add cornerback Cortez Allento this group. In his first game this preseason, Allen led the Steelers in tackles, and broke up a pass. He underwent knee surgery early in training camp, and appears to be healthy enough to regain his starting position when the Steelers take on the Tennessee Titans in Week 1 of the regular season Sept. 8.
