Brandon Knight, DeAndre Jordan

March 11, 2013                9:45 a.m.

Brandon Knight is alive and well — no thanks to the Clippers‘ DeAndre Jordan and despite what you might have read on the Internet over the last 12 hours or so.

The Detroit guard still might be feeling the effects of the monster dunk Jordan threw down on him off a Chris Paul lob during the second quarter of the Clippers’ 129-97 victory over the Pistons at Staples Center on Sunday.

But that didn’t stop him from joining in on the Knight-bashing trend Sunday night. Knight made fun of himself on Twitter for seeming to forget the Clippers’ Lob City reputation: “It wasn’t in the scouting reports that the clippers threw lobs lol.”

Though it’s commendable that the 6-foot-3, 189-pound Knight tried to hold his own against the 6-11, 250-pound Jordan, much of the online focus has been on the second-year pro’s motionless body on the court after being jammed by the Clippers center.

Type in Knight’s name on Google and the first two phrases that pop up are “Brandon Knight dead” and “Brandon Knight death.” His Wikipedia page was even briefly updated to say that he died March 10 in a game against the Clippers, with the cause of death listed simply as “DeAndre Jordan.”

There are memes galore (two good ones here and here, via USA Today) at Knight’s expense and jokes aplenty all over Twitter (“DeAndre Jordan will enter the dunk contest only if he can bring Brandon Knight as his prop,” Paul Pabst; “I bet Brandon Knight will never get a hair cut again. Unless they can do it with something other than CLIPPERS,” Page Kennedy).

As far as Jordan is concerned, some people are having fun with the expression on his face at the end of the clip above, looking more like someone changing a dirty diaper than a guy who just made himself a household name.

But mostly it’s just mad props for Jordan, including from a noted authority on monster jams, Clippers teammate Blake Griffin, who tweeted:

“Well boys and girls that is what you call “the dunk of the year” by @deandrejordan Best dunk I’ve ever seen in person.”

One Response to “Brandon Knight”

  1. Hey! I know this is somewhat off-topic however I had to
ask. Does managing a well-established website like yours take
a lot of work? I am brand new to blogging however I do write in my journal everyday.
I’d like to start a blog so I can easily share my experience and feelings online. Please let me know if you have any ideas or tips for new aspiring blog owners. Thankyou!
