Louisville’s Paul Hornung Award, which looks to award the most versatile player in college football, as announced their annual “watch list.”

These are the student athletes who show the most promise towards the award, currently forty four are being analyzed as the season gets going.
The only local on the list is Western Kentucky’s Antonio Andrews, this senior running back from Fort Campbell has been one of the major reasons for the Hilltoppers success in recent years.

Meanwhile, the award won by Hornung himself, the Heisman, has unofficially a watch list of their own, and in that list is Louisville junior quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who led the Cards to their upset Sugar Bowl victory last year.

More than likely, the Florida native will be leaving Louisville after this season for the NFL but in the meantime he certainly has a lot of talk centering around him and the Heisman.

Consequently, the also highly prestigious Maxwell Award, which seeks to honor the top overall athlete in college football has also placed Andrews and Bridgewater on their watch list as has the Walter Camp Award, Andrews is also being watched by the Doak Walker Award judges who seek to honor the top running back in the country.

Other locals for the Walker award include Louisville’s Dominique Brown and Senorise Perry.

The Davey O’Brien Award, which honors the top quarterback in college football has placed Bridgewater on their list as well.

For the Hoosiers junior Cody Latimer is on the watch list for the Fred Biletnikoff Award, which honors the top wide receiver in college football. In addition, Louisville’s DeVante Parker is on this list.

Since 2000 the John Mackey award has honored the nation’s top tight end, and on their watch list is Indiana’s Ted Bolser and Louisville’s Christian Gerald.

As the Mackey award honors the top tight end, the Rimington Trophy is meant to celebrate the nation’s top center and Western Kentucky’s Sean Conway is on their watch list.

The Chuck Bednarik award annually honors the top defensive player in college football and this year Western Kentucky’s linebacker, Andrew Jackson has made it to that watch list, as has Louisville safeties, Calvin Pryor and Hakeem Smith.
