But it’s not the player most analysts list first.

“It’s Quinton Patton,” Patton said without hesitation on Saturday. “I catch everything my way. I just make plays.”

The Louisiana Tech product and Nashville native then smiled and said University of Tennessee standout Cordarrelle Patterson ranks right behind him.

Patton has been turning heads. He had an impressive week at the Senior Bowl and already he’s met with six teams at the Combine.

“I want to know why the Titans aren’t on this list,” Patton said with a laugh. “I’m like, man, it’s frustrating because I want to meet with the Titans, too.”

The Titans are probably aware of Patton. He was a first-team All-WAC pick in 2011 and 2012 while accumulating 2,544 yards and 24 touchdowns.

NFL scouts like Patton’s hands, route-running skills and toughness. NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock rates the 6-foot, 204-pounder as the fifth best receiver in the draft.

Patton admitted he still has a few things to work on, but said, “I can play with the best of them. I just want to put on a show, and it’s up to the football gods after that.”

After failing to qualify academically out of La Vergne High School, Patton went to Coffeyville Community College before finishing at Louisiana Tech.

Now he’s enjoying the pre-draft process, even if it’s not quite what he expected.

“All the years watching the combine, I never would have thought you’d do all these behind the scenes things,” Patton said. “They make it look so easy on the TV. All you see is guys running and jumping and benching and everything, but here you have to take tests and get pulled and yanked on all day. But it’s great to be here.”

Eye on Roos:

Tennessee State tackle Rogers Gaines doesn’t have to look far to find one of his idols.

He plays for the Titans — left tackle Michael Roos. Gaines said he’s picked up pointers watching the eighth-year pro.

“I like watching Michael Roos,” said Gaines, who is from White House. “We are actually built the same — 6-7, long arms, about 320 and can move. I’ve learned a few things from him, just watching how he works. He is an All-Pro tackle, and anything I can see, I am taking.”

Gaines said he already interviewed with more than a dozen teams at the Combine.

In his workout at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday, he ran the 40-yard dash in 5.24 seconds, put up 28 reps in the bench press and posted a vertical jump of 23.0 inches.

Another Fuller:

Former Titans safety Vincent Fuller maybe didn’t realize it at the time, but his kid brother was watching his every move.

“I learned a lot from him as far as just being a man. I always look up to him on and off the field,” Virginia Tech wide receiver Corey Fuller said. “Him being a defensive back, he’s shown me a lot of things that he does against other receivers, and technique, so I’ve learned from him a lot.”

Vincent, the oldest of four Fuller brothers, played for the Titans from 2005-10 and finished his career with the Lions. He’s preparing for law school after returning to Virginia Tech for his second degree.

Corey Fuller caught 43 passes for 815 yards and six touchdowns last season.

In the plans: Titans fullback Quinn Johnson didn’t play many snaps last season and is scheduled to become a free agent on March 12.

The Titans plan to use a fullback in 2013, whether it’s Johnson or someone else.

“Last year, Quinn may have played 12 snaps a game,” coach Mike Munchak said. “There’s a place for it with either the fullback or the tight end playing that position. We had a lot of success in past years. … I think we’ll have a fullback on the roster.”
