Story lines: The most dominant players in the league at their respective positions, Vikings RB Adrian Peterson and Lions WR Calvin Johnson, might need to take steps back for their teams to move forward. After QB Matthew Stafford set an NFL record with 727 pass attempts en route to a 4-12 record, Detroit signed RB Reggie Bush to give the offense more balance. Meanwhile, Minnesota gave Christian Ponder new receivers in Greg Jennings and first-round pick Cordarrelle Patterson in an effort to keep the heat off Peterson. The team that best incorporates its new weapons likely will be the winner.
