D.J. Fluker

The Twitter account for former Alabama offensive tackle D.J. Fluker featured a tweet Monday night in which the potential first-round draft pick seemed to admit to taking money from agents while playing for the two-time defending BCS champion Crimson Tide.

According to a tweet from his agent, Deryk Gilmore, Fluker’s Twitter account was hacked and has since been temporarily shut down. But several media outlets have posted images of the original message, which appeared less than three days before the NFL draft.

“I’ll tell you, of course, this wasn’t him,” Gilmore told AL.com by phone Tuesday morning.

“I mean, my company has an outstanding reputation. This kid, we didn’t even give him a guarantee to sign with us. We gave him nothing. My whole point is that for all the people who are out there saying the worst, let them believe the worst.”

Gilmore went on to say that he knows who hacked his clients’ account but is waiting for proof from Twitter before going public with the name.

Yahoo! Sports also points out that the tweet in question doesn’t fit in with the largely religious content that had been posted on Fluker’s account.

Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer has the Bengals picking Fluker at No. 21 overall in The Times’ mock draft of NFL beat writers.
